I love what you ladies are doing here, being a busy practitioner I could really use a transcript of your podcasts if and when that’s an option. Thanks!
Hello Friends. I can’t thank you enough for this podcast.
As I was at the gym debating over how hard to hit it, and wondering how much caffeine I should artificially jack myself up with so I can push through said workout, I stopped and listened. I took it slower and was OK with that. It’s hard to let go of all the actions that I have used to define myself for so long. As someone with 6 years of HA and approaching menopause, I am scared that I will never see my period again. It leaves me sometimes feeling less of a woman and really am touched that I can lean on you all for not only “all the things” but emotional support and sisterly love. I will probably listen to this a lot when things get tough and I want to restrict foods, or workout more because the hardest part is complying when I am facing a wardrobe of clothes that are too tight to wear. Alone as a single mom, and military member, it’s hard to not want to do all the things that the media conveys we should do to find love, friends, be “in”, especially in SoCal. I have osteopenia, very low hormones across the board, slightly higher T, on Armor at 60 mcg (secondary issue I think to my HPA disreg), some depression, anxiety, and dip into anorexic like behaviors and overexercising sometimes. I rely on 12 steps as much as I can b/c nothing is on-base to help me. It would be better care if I was married to a military member or out b/c they just don’t have the set up to help with these things on this USMC base. The best I can do is try “one day at a time”, keep listening to things I know I should do, and WALK ON. Right? Really, that one on one accountability is essential as you mentioned b/c the tendency is to let up or change things when it gets scary. Anyway, much love ladies. Erin
Hi Stefani,
I found your EBook on acne to be very helpful. As a woman with hypothalamic amenorrhea and acne (mostly on chin, especially just below my mouth), I have some questions about what to eat. I was intrigued by the idea of nuts having high omega 6 content and potentially increasing inflammation, and I eat a ton of walnuts and almonds to increase my overall good fats and calories in the day. I’m now going to stop eating them for a bit to see if it helps. Are seeds still okay (pumpkin, flax, chia)? I’m trying seed cycling. Secondly, I’ve been avoiding dairy for years because of eating a mostly paleo diet, but am now thinking of adding in organic whole fat yogurt because if I’m not mistaken you said in one of your podcasts that dairy can be helpful for women trying to get their periods back (other sources have said this as well). I tolerate yogurt well, so it would be feasible to add it in. On the other hand it is pro-inflammatory as you said in your book. I’m working hard to eat more calories and found your podcasts and appearances on other podcasts about overcoming hypothalamic
amenorrhea to be really helpful. I avoid wheat, and my carb sources are fruit, starchy vegetables, and rice/buckwheat/quinoa/millet. I also am eating organic meats, make bone broth weekly, and have started eating liver, eat ghee and cook with other healthy oils, eat lots of avocado, and take fermented cod liver oil (but based on your recent podcast I’m switching brands). Thanks for your amazing work!
Seeds are very problematic for me. Flax and chia aren’t high in omega 6 but they are… well, I have a post on it, actually. 🙂 /4-dangerous-myths-about-chia-seeds
As for dairy… you really won’t know until you try it yourself.
One more side note: I don’t have PCOS, which was
ruled out by bloodwork and normal pevic organ ultrasound in case you were wondering 🙂
